A Requiem for Remembrance Sunday

IMG_4657As we celebrated our Patronal festival – All Saints Day – on Sunday 3 November, we celebrate All Souls Day a week late so on Sunday 10 November, All Saints Fulham Choir will sing Fauré’s Requiem in a special Mass of Remembrance at All Saints Church Fulham at 6pm.

All Souls is about remembering those close to us who have died. Families in our own community, especially those who have lost someone in the last year, are invited to come to Church to remember and honour their loved ones.

The Kyrie will be sung during the procession; the Pie Jesu sung by Soprano Choral Scholar Cait Frizzell, following the clergy reading aloud the names of the departed; and the Sanctus and Agnus Dei during the Eucharistic Prayer.

A table will be set up at the front of church for everyone to leave a lighted candle for their loved ones before they receive communion. These candles will burn bright as the Choir sings Libera Me. Finally, In Paradisum will offer a serene end to a beautiful service.

The video is The Choir of Winchester Cathedral singing In Paradisum.

There’s a performance of the entire Requiem sung by the BBC Singers can be found on BBC website.
