All Saints Fulham Choir are taking part in a workshop led by David Hill, conductor of the Bach Choir and the BBC Singers on Sunday 20 October. David will then conduct the Choir for Choral Evensong with music by Purcell, Howells and Parry.
The Choir will sing a fantastic setting of the canticles – Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Collegium Regale) – written in 1945 by English composer Herbert Howells (1892-1983).
Collegium Regale means that it is dedicated to King’s College, Cambridge.
He also wrote the music for the other church services for the College – canticles for matins and ordinary mass of Holy Communion as well as a set of evensong canticles for St John’s College, Cambridge and other churches.
His ashes are buried in the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey near Ralph Vaughan Williams and Sir Charles Villers Stanford.
The video is the Magnificat (Collegium Regale) by Herbert Howells performed by St Alban’s Church Choir, Bristol; organist: Simon Hogan and conducted by Nigel Walton.
