Christmas Badger Carol Concert: 5 Gold Rings

12 Days of Christmas (Grocery.com)

On Saturday 8th December at 6.30pm, the annual Christmas Badger Carol Concert comes to All Saints Church Fulham.

Joining the Christmas Badger Singers are All Saints Fulham Choir and the Oxford Spezzati Players.

The concert will feature carols by John Rutter, renaissance motets, and of course the delightful Badger Carol written especially for the Christmas Badger Singers.

One of the pieces sung on the night will be the 12 Days of Christmas. But it’ll be a little different than usual. It’s a version composed by Bob Chilcott.

Back in 1909, English composer Frederic Austin standardised the arrangement of this famous song and it was published by Novello & Co. In his version he added the 2-bar motif for “Five gold rings” and these two bars are under copyright.

Bob Chilcott cleverly gets around the copyright by changing these 2 bars to explore a different style of music so you’ll be able to listen out for a soprano solo, swinging barbershop quartet, hard funk, and rock gospel style and more!

The concert is free and there will be a retiring collection in aid of All Saints Fulham Church campaign to restore its medieval tower and bells – Save Our Tower and Bells
