Jubilee Celebrations in Fulham

Queen Elizabeth II (courtesy of the British Monarchy website)

In honour of the Diamond Jubilee, there will be a special “Songs of Praise” service on Sunday evening at 5pm at All Saints Church Fulham.

All Saints Fulham Choir and guest musicians will be conducted by Martin Neary, Organist Emeritus of All Saints Fulham and former Organist and Master of Choristers at  Westminster Abbey and Winchester Cathedral, for several of the anthems during the service.

Neary sang at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 as he was a chorister of the Chapel Royal at the time. On Sunday, he will be using the very score that he used during the ceremony.

Sunday’s service will include many of the anthems from that coronation service:

Zadok the Priest – Handel
Conforare – George Dyson
Behold O God our Defender – Herbert Howells
I was Glad – CHH Parry

The video is footage from the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
