A Charge of Curates

All Saints Fulham Choir will be singing at this year’s ordination of priests service for the Kensington Diocese. A charge of curates, [Ed: yes, apparently the collective noun for a group of curates is a charge!] 8 to be exact, from across the diocese will be ordained at the service on Sunday 26 June at 4pm.

We shall be singing several anthems including one of my favourites Christus Factus Est by the Austrian composer Anton Bruckner (1824-1896).

Bruckner took the text from the New Testament – Philippians 2:8-9

Christus factus est pro nobis obediens usque ad mortem, mortem autem crucis. Propter quod et Deus exaltavit illum et dedit illi nomen, quod est super omne nomen.

English: King James Bible Version
Christ became obedient for our sakes unto death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name.

The version below is sung by Bristol Cathedral Choir directed by Malcolm Archer with Anthony Pinel playing the organ.
